Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy – Expansion of the Tahkoluoto Offshore Wind Farm

Lieke acts as the legal advisor to Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy in the expansion project of the Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm. A long-term lease agreement for the project area was executed with Metsähallitus in January 2023, and Lieke assisted in the negotiation of the agreement.

The lease agreement represents the first long-term lease agreement for wind power development in public waters in Finland. The agreement enables the application for the permits required for the project as well as the construction and electricity generation of the offshore wind farm.

The project is an expansion located in the immediate vicinity of Finland’s first offshore wind farm, Tahkoluoto, which was piloted by Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy in 2010 and completed in 2017 off the coast of Pori. The partial local master plan for the project, which became legally binding in December 2022, allows for the construction of 40 modern offshore wind turbines.
