Maija Ahtiainen specializes in commercial dispute resolution and conflict management.
Ahtiainen advises and represents clients in domestic and international arbitration, litigation, and mediation proceedings. She also advises clients on conflict avoidance and conflict management.
Ahtiainen has more than a decade of experience in handling complex commercial disputes in various industries. She is particularly experienced in disputes related to construction, the energy sector, and various commercial and corporate contracts. Ahtiainen acts as counsel in arbitration proceedings, litigation before general and administrative courts, as well as in settlement negotiations and mediation.
Ahtiainen has successfully handled disputes relating to various types of commercial contracts including different types of construction contracts, IT, supply, project and insurance contracts. She also has extensive experience in post-M&A disputes, disputes relating to shareholders’ and financing agreements, and disputes concerning various corporate, contractual and tort liability issues. Ahtiainen also has experience in matters relating to corporate criminal liability and white-collar crime.
Ahtiainen has previously worked in the dispute resolution practices of other leading Finnish business law firms. She has also acted as tribunal secretary in several complex arbitration cases. Ahtiainen has trained on the bench at the District Court of Pirkanmaa. She has also completed an internship at the Supreme Court of Finland.
