{"id":6157,"date":"2025-11-21T17:29:59","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T14:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lieke.com\/?p=6157"},"modified":"2026-04-02T15:17:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T12:17:48","slug":"hyvinkaan-lampovoima-oy-pit-thermal-energy-storage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lieke.com\/en\/hyvinkaan-lampovoima-oy-pit-thermal-energy-storage\/","title":{"rendered":"Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4n L\u00e4mp\u00f6voima Oy \u2013  Pit Thermal Energy Storage"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>We acted as legal advisor to Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4n L\u00e4mp\u00f6voima Oy in the company&#8217;s pit thermal energy storage project, in which Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4n L\u00e4mp\u00f6voima is building the world&#8217;s largest pit thermal energy storage (PTES) in Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4, Kulom\u00e4ki.<\/h3>\n<p>We assisted Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4n L\u00e4mp\u00f6voima with the project\u2019s work and installation procurement, which were carried out in accordance with the Procurement Act for Special Sectors.<\/p>\n<p>In the project, Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4n L\u00e4mp\u00f6voima is building a pit thermal energy storage in a decommissioned gravel pit in Kulom\u00e4ki, Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4, Finland. The unique project is the first of its kind in Finland and will be the world\u2019s largest PTES (Pit Thermal Energy Storage) facility. In this project, heat is stored in clean water kept in the storage by heating it with waste heat and electric boilers. Heat collected during the summer will be transferred to the storage for winter use, significantly reducing the need for fossil fuels. Annually, up to 90,000\u2013100,000 megawatt-hours of heat will flow through the storage, which corresponds to nearly one-quarter of Hyvink\u00e4\u00e4\u2019s total annual heating demand.<\/p>\n<p>The investment is valued at approximately 33 million euros.
